The Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo, has distributed foodstuff and cash running into millions of naira to aged men and women in the ancient town.
The gesture, according to a statement on Saturday by the palace spokesperson, Chief Wole Benson, was part of the monarch’s contributions to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The statement explained that the foodstuffs and cash gifts to the elderly people in their hundreds, was a palliative to ameliorate the effects of the current lockdown.
It stated that the gifts were in addition to the regular enlightenment lectures being given on radio by the Osemawe, who is a medical expert.
Benson, who is also the Secretary of the Osemawe Palace Forum, added that the gesture by the king, was fully supported by the OPF, and that it will continue till the end of the challenging period.
“Health is wealth, I therefore admonish you to stay safe at home to remain healthy.
“I also enjoin you to adhere strictly to the WHO guidelines, while praying fervently for early eradication of this pandemic,” the monarch was quoted in the statement as said.
